Professional Development Workshop: Etsy for Artists

Soundcrawl’s Kyle Baker presents Etsy for Artists, a day of interactive seminars that goes into the possibilities of maximizing Etsy’s functionality, and how to create and run your own Etsy store. Whether you are a full time artist or an occasional crafter, Etsy Workshop will give you the information and tools needed to sell your products and begin a more independent and sustainable career.
Baker’s own Etsy store generates annual sales, of which more than 50% come from outside the US. He will share knowledge and insights that come from running his own store and will teach participants how to reach potential customers all over the globe.
Etsy for Artists, part 1: Why aren’t you on Etsy?
10 am – 12 pm
If you’ve never considered how you might be able to use Etsy to your advantage, Baker will discuss how artists are using the internet to advance their careers, and specifically how artists are able to leverage Etsy as a unique advantage.
Etsy for Artists, part 2: Let’s get you on Etsy!
1 pm – 3 pm
During the workshop, you will set up your own Etsy store complete with eye-catching photographs of your products. Baker invites you to come with a laptop and a product and leave with a fully functioning store.
REQUIRED Materials: wifi-enabled Laptop and a single item you wish to sell on Etsy.
Kyle J Baker is a Nashville-based composer and impresario most known for directing the Soundcrawl Festival. He composes for acoustic and digital forces with a recurring emphasis on rhythmic post-minimalist structures. Notable teachers include Ken Read, John LaBarbara, Delfeayo Marsalis, and William Pursell.
Originally from St. Louis, Baker holds an M.Mus from Belmont University, and makes his home in Cane Ridge, Tennessee with his wife Joy and cat Lili.
The cost for each workshop is $25 in advance or $30 at the door. These meetings are geared toward professional working artists. Students and those entering the field are also welcome.
Of special note: If you are attending both workshops, we will break for an hour lunch. CoLab has kindly made their kitchen available to us, should anyone wish to use it during that time.These two workshops will be taking place downtown before the First Saturday Art Crawl. We recommend arriving early to allow for possible increased traffic and more limited parking. Visit Park It! Downtown for most economic parking options.
